Mommy must haves???

I just got done doing a segment on TWIN CITIES LIVE this afternoon (always so good to be back on the show), and I wanted to share it with you all. CLICK HERE to watch the segment (I can't figure out how to post the video on my blog).

A few comments were made on Facebook about me "not being in touch with today's parent", etc. Well, I am today's parent! I have a one-year-old daughter, and I'm learning new things every day, just like the next parent. I also understand that just because one product works for me, that doesn't mean that it will work for everyone. Not everyone can afford to spend their money on every "cool" product out there. In our home, we use "store brands" for many baby products, but there are also things that we choose to invest our money in. I'd rather spend money on a baby product (like a stroller, breast pump, baby monitor, etc.) that I know will work, and that I can use for our next baby.

As parents, I think we can all agree that being a mom or dad is THE toughest job out there, and it's important for us to support one another. If you can't afford to buy the "latest and greatest" diaper bag on the market, that doesn't make you a bad parent. If you have the "coolest and most expensive stroller" on the market, that doesn't make you a better parent than the mom and dads who spent $25 on a stroller. Some parents find that they don't even need a stroller, and if that works for them, then GREAT! Different products work for different babies and parents. The products I featured today have simply made my life easier as a mom, so I like telling people about my experiences.

I think my friend Stacy (Minnesota mom of two boys) said it best when she commented on my Facebook page: "I agree that most baby items are not 'must haves' but that doesn't mean I don't still want them!". It just depends on what YOU choose to spend your money on:)

WHAT ARE SOME "MUST HAVE" BABY PRODUCTS IN YOUR HOME???

  1. The must have for me was a good pump. Iy was very important to me that he was still able to have my milk after returning to work. I used a double modela electric until he turned one.

  3. I tend to go for name brand Baby Products, but I still want to save money on them. Because of that I shop at Burlington Coat Factory. Their Baby Depot has everything I need with name brands that I know will last for the next baby, designs that I want, and prices I can actually afford. I would definitely recommend them.
