3.5 months.

I've kind of been slacking in the blogging department, so here we go with our 3 1/2 month update!

Baby Linna is getting BIG! I'm guessing she's at LEAST 15 lbs. (she was 12 lbs. at her 2 month appointment). It's getting tougher and tougher to lug her car seat around, and I'm seriously contemplating taking her in and out of the seat when we go places. My right arm is pretty buff;) Baby Linna is all smiles and is still the happiest baby! She's sleeping at least eight hour stretches at night, usually from 10:30 p.m. - 7:30 or 8 a.m. She's drinking about 5 ounces each feeding too! She sleeps a LOT during the day still, which I was concerned about at first, but she's just a baby who likes her sleep (like her mama and papa)! She usually just falls asleep in her Boppy, or under her play gym, and sometimes in her crib. We haven't been using the MamaRoo much lately.

A new thing in the world of Linna is her stinky toots! I cannot believe the smells that come out of our little girl's tush. She's still not pooping every day, but when she does... LOOK OUT! Today, she did a #2 twice, and we had to change her outfit twice... three times including all of her spit-ups. Linna also loves talking, whether it's to herself or other people. We're still waiting for her to laugh out loud (I can't wait for this)! Grandma and Grandpa Specken bought Linna an Exersaucer and she just loves it! Linna is always trying to sit up on her own. She's SO strong, and has been standing since she was 2 months old! You can hold her hands and she pulls herself right up. She also loves to grab at her toys and pull them up to her mouth (it's so cute)! I also love watching her bring her hands together (like she's praying) and put them in her mouth. She loves sucking on her fingers and her knuckles!

I know it's a big no-no (and AJ still isn't completely comfortable with it), but we're letting Linna sleep on her tummy at night. She can hold her head up 90-degrees, and is even starting to push up with her arms. Linna is a tummy sleeper and if we lay her on her back at night, she wakes up once or twice a night. We always check on her and her head is always to the side. Other people with kids have told me that they let their babies sleep on their tummies too (one friend since her baby was 2 weeks old), and I really thought about it, but I just think Linna was ready. My mom told me I was a tummy sleeper too, and I just want Linna to get a good night sleep!

Linna also made her first appearance on Kare 11 Today, as one of her mama's models. She did such a good job and is such a natural! We are so excited to celebrate Linna's first Thanksgiving on Thursday with the Krekelberg family in Burnsville. I'm hoping she doesn't get the turkey "sleepies" from my breast milk (can this happen?)... or maybe I hope she does;) We'll also be celebrating Thanksgiving on Saturday with AJ's family in Mankato.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family from the Saighs!

Ever heard of a "Grandma Shower"?

Grammy Pammy and Baby Linna
All of Pammy's gifts
If you've never heard of a "Grandma Shower", you're not alone! This past weekend, we spent the night at my in-laws house, and attended a Grandma Shower for my mother-in-law Pam (AKA Grammy Pammy). This shower was thrown by Pam's friends, and they all brought gifts that Pam could keep at her house for Baby Linna to use! Isn't that a fun idea? The women played games, we had some yummy desert and snacks, and Grammy Pammy got to show off Baby Linna. Grammy Pammy has been waiting to introduce Linna to her friends, and Linna sure got a lot of attention from all the ladies. Baby Linna got to wear her first "party dress", but ended up passing out on the couch half-way through the shower. The ladies would sing her songs, and Linna just loved all of the interaction! Pam got so many toys, a bath tub, blankets, and more. The ladies even made Pam play "The Bottle Game", where she had to be blindfolded, drink out of bottles to guess what was inside. It was pretty funny!

The day before the shower, I judged this Miss Mankato pageant, so Baby Linna got to spend the day with her grandma and grandpa! Since my mom lives a couple minutes away from us, she gets to do a lot of overnights with Baby Linna. So Saturday night, Grammy Pammy slept in the same room as Linna and got up with her at 5am when she decided to eat. AJ and I got nine hours of blissful sleep! We really are so blessed to have parents that love our little lady so much. Thanks Pam and Marty for a fun weekend!

3 months old... and 7 days without a poop.

That's right, little miss Linna decided to celebrate being 3 months old by freaking Mama and Papa out, and not doing a number 2 in 7 days! I called the pediatrician after 3 days, but they said it's completely normal for babies her age to go 4-7 days without a poop. Well day 7 came and so did a whole new definition to Linna's poopy diapers. Talk about an explosion! She seemed very pleased with herself though. And even though I was so tempted to do it, I did NOT take a photo of the beautiful gift:)

Linna also learned how to roll over! She goes from her front to her back. She has always hated tummy time, so I think this is just her way of getting out of it. She's already grown out of her 3-month clothes and has moved onto 3-6 month clothes. One day I had her in newborn pants, a 6 month onesie, and a 6-12 month skirt! Baby clothes sizes are so weird. Every morning, our little lady greets her mama with a big smile and it really is the best part of my day! She literally smiles from ear to ear. She wants to talk so bad, but all she says right now is "Ohhhhhh". Her mouth moves so fast like she's telling you something, but nothing comes out. It's pretty cute!

Baby Linna loves to read the book "Green Eggs and Ham"! I think she likes the bright and bold colors. I try to read the book to her every day, in hopes that she'll enjoy reading when she's older. For the last few nights Linna has slept 7-9 hour stretches at night, which has been such a blessing! We put her to bed when we go to bed, which is around 10:30 or 11pm, and she will sleep until 6 or 8am! She takes a few cat naps between 8-11pm. She eats about 5 ounces before bed, wakes up between 6-8am to eat, and then sleeps until 10 or 11am. I'm really liking this schedule because it allows me to get some stuff done in the morning before she wakes up. However, last night Miss Linna decided she wanted to go to bed at 1am, woke up at 5am, 7am, came in bed with mama, and slept until 10:30am. When she's a little older we'll start putting her to bed at 8pm, in hopes of her sleeping until 7am like a "normal" kid. But for now, this schedule is working for us and Linna.

Wearing newborn pants, a 6 month onesie,
and a 6 - 12 month skirt.
I'm still breastfeeding (pumping and bottle feeding) and hope to continue for a year, but man is it challenging! Pumping consumes my entire day, and I'm constantly thinking about it. I did get a brand new double electric breast pump today, and I'm so excited to use it! I've been using a single electric for the last 3 months. Also, I'll be making my first appearance on TWIN CITIES LIVE on November 29th as their Mommy-Blogger, showing some cool baby and mommy gadgets. Make sure your TV is set to channel 5 at 3pm!

Cheers to Linna being 3 months old!
