Baby jimmy is one.

Baby Jimmy with his first bithday cake.
A year ago today at 7:40 a.m., my water broke, and we raced to the hospital to meet the little person growing inside my belly. We had no idea if Linna would have a little brother, or sister. But from the moment I met our little man... I was in love.

Jameson "Jimmy" Marshall Saigh has brought so much sunshine into our lives over the past year. His smile lights up any room, his big hazel eyes catch the attention of everyone, and his marvelous hair and fantastic facial expressions make him the perfect little dude.

His favorite word is "ball" (everything is a ball). He loves avocados, milk, spinach tortellini, scrambled eggs, frozen peas, and just about any kind of fruit. He loves to point at thinks and say "ohhhhhh", with an inquisitive look on his face. He's walking behind a walker, and is a little bulldozer when he crawls. He loves his mama and papa, but does so well in the care of others too. Jimmy looks to his big sister, Linna, as his hero. She can do no wrong in his little eyes, and Linna would do anything to protect her baby brother. Jimmy laughs at anything Linna does, and his entire face lights up when he sees her.

This weekend, we had a few family and friends over to our house to celebrate Jimmy's first birthday. We had a soup bar, snacks, drinks, and of course cake. Our neighbors came over to celebrate, and Jimmy's great grandparents (John and LaVonne) even drove up from Iowa for the party. I think Jimmy was a little overwhelmed by all the attention and noise, but he was a trooper. He ate birthday cake for dinner, slammed an 8 oz. bottle of milk, and was out by 5:30 p.m. on his birthday eve. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate our baby boy's special day.

I made the mistake of waiting until after the birthday festivities to start taking photos. This is Baby Jimmy with my brother Scotty, and his wife (my sister-in-law) Holly.

And he's birthday-partied out! So happy that the kids' great grandparents could join us for Jimmy's special day.

I just can't believe that one year has already come and gone. When are littles are tiny, days often seem to drag on. While I experienced a couple painful months over the past year, battling postpartum depression/anxiety, the struggles made me a stronger and more appreciative mama. Motherhood is such a double-edged sword. We have an overwhelming amount of love for our babies, and we sacrifice so much for them. Sometimes the power of this love leads to personal pain, and mental turmoil. However, I'd go through all of the sadness, paralyzing fear, and unbelievable frightening moments a thousand times, just to experience all of Jimmy's newborn perfection again.

It came and went much too fast.

Baby Jimmy on his birthday: November 14th, 2015.

But now we get to watch our little man grow up, right along side his beautiful sister. How on earth do we have a one and five-year-old?! I am so incredibly lucky and thankful to be the mama of these gorgeous babies. I live and breathe for these two miracles, and while there are difficult times, the good times always triumph.

(Baby Jimmy's first birthday party and cake. So much love from family and friends!)

Happy birthday, Jameson Marshall Saigh! We love you more than you will ever know.
