Yesterday, my heart and stomach dropped as AJ, Linna and I "flew" more than 500 feet (or 42 storeys) into the Singapore sky! The three of us took a ride on the Singapore Flyer, and what an experience it was.
We stepped inside an air-conditioned, glass capsule (while it was moving) and the three of us took in the sights and amazing views of Singapore. We had about 10 other people inside the capsule, so it wasn't crowded. It was so fun to hear all of the other spectators' different accents and languages inside our capsule.

Linna decided to crawl around on the floor, and had more of an interest in checking out the fish and other artwork on the floor of our capsule. AJ and I, however, couldn't get enough of the fabulous views of the city and sea! It absolutely terrified me to watch Linna crawl to the edge of the capsule, and stand with her little hands and body pressed against the glass. I know the Singapore Flyer is completely safe, but MAN did the sight of my one-year-old hovering hundreds of feet about the ground, give me a light-headed feeling!

We could see everything from our capsule: The Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Harbour, Sentosa Island, and even parts of Malaysia and Indonesia! It was a cloudy day, but that didn't distract from our views of the city.

How cool is this?! They play soccer here on the water! We need this on the lakes in Minnesota to watch football. |
The Singapore Flyer is basically a giant farris-wheel that moves VERY slowly, giving riders a birds-eye view of the city. It's rotation is SO smooth, and the rides are about a half-hour, which is more than enough time to take incredible photos!
Linna got mad at mama for talking her off the floor. |
Scary! |
Strollers are not allowed inside the capsules, but they did have a safe system for holding our stroller while we rode the Singapore Flyer. Linna had more fun moving about inside the capsule anyway:)

Other than taking a ride in a helicopter or small plane (that would cost a good chunk of change), I don't know of another way we could get these types of views of the city! It truly was unreal. We captured some great photos of Linna, and maybe even one that we'll use as our Christmas card this year:) We rode the Flyer at around 3 p.m., but I'm sure it would be amazing to see this attraction from the sky at night! We did, however, get some pretty good photos of the Flyer when we were out to dinner at Seafood Paradise one night, which is located right underneath the Flyer.
This was a fun time had by all three of us! FYI, the Flyer is currently running a deal for families, called the Basic Family Value Pack. Check it out!
Good information :)
