August 13th - 19th, Minnesota Baby will be doing daily reviews and giveaways of some popular pre-packaged baby and toddler foods. From Plum Organics to Target's Up & Up Baby Food, our one-year-old daughter, Linna, has been sampling seven brands for about a month, and Mama Saigh will be sharing our thoughts on each brand's packaging, pricing, taste, nutrition, and "baby-appeal". Every day this week (Monday through Sunday), we'll be giving away a food prize-pack to one of our blog followers (make sure you follow our blog for your chance to win). Details about each day's giveaway will be on our Minnesota Baby Facebook page.
Disclaimer: I am not a food scientist or a doctor (even though I'd like to think of myself as such). This is NOT a sponsored review. All of the reviews during Minnesota Baby's "7 Days of Baby Food" are our own opinions (mom and baby - yes, mom tried the foods too). All of the baby food brands we are reviewing provided us with a giveaway. We'd love to hear your thoughts on the baby foods we'll be reviewing, because as we all know, everyone has their own personal opinions. Thanks for reading our reviews, and good luck on winning one of our 7 giveaways!
TODAY'S REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: BABY GOURMET
Baby Gourmet wasn't one of the pre-packaged baby foods on my mommy-radar when I first started feeding our baby solids, but once our daughter tired them, we were hooked! According to the Baby Gourmet store locator, you can find Baby Gourmet at some Walmart stores in Minnesota. Since we don't really do any of our shopping at Walmart, I had to hear about this little gem of a baby food through a friend. All of Baby Gourmet's foods are started in the kitchens of two moms, and their products promise to be made with the freshest, organic and kosher ingredients from around the world. They have come up with delicious-tasting combinations, that I haven't seen anywhere else, such as Baby's Sweet Potato Pie, Old-Fashioned Apple Crisp, and Vanilla Banana Berry Risotto. Can we say YUM-O! Our one-year-old has yet to turn a Baby Gourmet food-pouch down, and her favorite is the Tropical Banana Bliss. Even Mama Saigh would eat one of these for breakfast! It tastes like a tropical smoothie. They have simple blends for babies age six-months and up, and more adventurous combos for the older babies. Also, instead of placing the spout in the center top of the food pouch, they put it off to the side. I'm not sure the reason for this, or if it makes eating any easier, but it's something a little different. I also like the old-fashioned look of the packaging. It's lime green, with photos of the actual food combos inside the pouch. This way, parents can teach and show their baby what they are eating! You can also buy Baby Gourmet online, if they don't sell them in your area. If you're looking for what we think is the BEST tasting, organic baby food out there, that only uses simple ingredients, Baby Gourmet is your best bet. However, these 4.5-ounce food packs are a little pricey, at about $2 a pop (Amazon's online price). For my daughter, Baby Gourmet is our go-to "fancy" food that I know she will suck down in seconds. It just depends how you choose to spend your money when it comes to baby food.
GIVEAWAY: We're giving away a sample pack of Baby Gourmet to one of our blog followers. For your chance to win, simply follow this blog and answer today's question (comment below). One winner will be selected at random by 10 p.m. Tuesday. Good luck!
WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT GO-TO BABY FOOD BRAND???
Our go to baby food brands (if not homemade) are Plum Organics and Ella's Kitchen. My little boy loves both and I love giving him organic food from great companies!
ReplyDeletePlum organic.
ReplyDeleteEarths best, plum organics, happy baby and Ella's kitchen if it's not something we made. I use eb because they have just veggies and I haven't found that the others do.
ReplyDeleteRight now it is gerber for us since we got a bunch super cheap!
ReplyDeletePlum and Earths best are our go to pouch baby food. We usually buy them at babies r us for $1 each. Ella's is good to but a little too expensive.
ReplyDeleteElla's Kitchen is our go to. Our local Kroger store always has it on sale.
ReplyDeleteGood old fashioned Gerber.
ReplyDeleteWe currently go with Gerber because my little guy is just getting used to bigger pieces and I find he likes the chunks in Gerber the best.
ReplyDeleteEarth's Best is our usual go-to baby food brand. however, we do switch it up quite a bit depending on what's on sale that week.
ReplyDeletePlum Organics or Gerber
ReplyDeleteWe buy Target's brand because it's the least expensive and pretty healthy.
ReplyDeleteWe used a lot of Plum Organics with our 3rd child. Right now, our youngest just turned 2 months so he is exclusively breastfed yet....
ReplyDeleteHappyFamily or Gerber
ReplyDeleteHappy Toddler! Love that they include whole grains!
ReplyDeleteWe love whatever is on sale, but we are currently eating Plum!
ReplyDeleteHomemade whenever we can. Otherwise, we have used Gerber, Plum, Earths Best - Lisa
ReplyDeleteGerber or up and up because we are target lovers!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Jane Nelson! You've won a Baby Gourmet food pack. Please email me your address so we can ship this to you (info@minnesotababy.org). Stay tuned to tomorrow's review and giveaway featuring Up & Up Baby Food. Good luck everyone, and thanks for following Minnesota Baby!
