August 13th - 19th, Minnesota Baby will be doing daily reviews and giveaways of some popular pre-packaged baby and toddler foods. From Plum Organics to Target's Up & Up Baby Food, our one-year-old daughter, Linna, has been sampling seven brands for about a month, and Mama Saigh will be sharing our thoughts on each brand's packaging, pricing, taste, nutrition, and "baby-appeal". Every day this week (Monday through Sunday), we'll be giving away a food prize-pack to one of our blog followers (make sure you follow our blog for your chance to win). Details about each day's giveaway will be on our Minnesota Baby Facebook page.
Disclaimer: I am not a food scientist or a doctor (even though I'd like to think of myself as such). This is NOT a sponsored review. All of the reviews during Minnesota Baby's "7 Days of Baby Food" are our own opinions (mom and baby - yes, mom tried the foods too). All of the baby food brands we are reviewing provided us with a giveaway. We'd love to hear your thoughts on the baby foods we'll be reviewing, because as we all know, everyone has their own personal opinions. Thanks for reading our reviews, and good luck on winning one of our 7 giveaways!
TODAY'S REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: UP & UP BABY FOOD
Up & Up Baby Food is Target's brand, and to be honest, I don't really have a lot of great things to say about this brand of baby food, except that it's at a great price-point and my one-year-old will eat it (I guess those are two really good things though, huh?!). Since this is a store brand, these food pouches and snacks are priced well below brands such as Ella's Kitchen, Earth's Best, or Plum Organics. My daughter will eat these food pouches and puffs, but I don't like giving them to her because they aren't organic. However, I will pick up a couple fruit/veggie-mix pouches during Target shopping trips (both Linna and I like the "banana pumpkin" mix) if none of the other brands are on sale. However, the Up & Up pouches are smaller than the "name brand" food pouches. The food pouch selection is pretty limited, but if you're just looking for a simple sweet potato pouch or prune pouch, the Up & Up brand might be right for you. They also sell their fruit and veggie mixes in little plastic cups, but convenience-wise, we like the food-pouches. The puffs are one of my one-year-old daughter's favorites, but they do have a lot of "unnatural" ingredients, so I don't like giving them to her. Again, the price point is pretty low. Overall, if you don't care about whether or not your child is eating organic foods, then the Up & Up brand is priced very well. and could be a good choice. The packaging is very boring, but so are all the Up & Up products' packaging. Plus, do our babies really care if they're eating out of a brightly colored food pouch?!
GIVEAWAY: We're giving away a sample pack of Up & Up Baby Food to one of our Minnesota Baby blog followers. For your chance to win, simply follow our blog and answer today's question (comment on the blog post). One winner will be selected at random by 10 p.m. Wednesday. Good luck!
